Tiffani Thiessen to co-star in 'White Collar'

Tiffani Thiessen has been tapped to co-star on USA Network's pilot "White Collar."   The show from Fox TV Studios, centers on Neal (Matthew Bomer), a brilliant con artist who partners against his will with Peter (Tim DeKay), the head of the FBI's white-collar crime unit.  Thiessen will play Debbie, Peter's intelligent and supportive wife who works as an accountant.  "Beverly Hills, 90210" alumna Thiessen most recently co-starred on ABC's "What About Brian."

More Than $1 Billion Recovered by Justice Department in Fraud Cases

F.B.I. Struggles to Handle Financial Fraud Cases

With the onset of the country's current economic crisis and meltdown of financial institutions, the FBI is struggling to find to find enough agents and resources.  The main cause is the reallocation of agents from white collar crime activity to national security roles after the Sept. 11 attacks, shifting more than 1,800 agents, or nearly one-third of all agents in criminal programs, to terrorism and intelligence duties.

Sentencing in International Stolen Art Conspiracy

French national Bernard Jean Ternus was sentenced today. Ternus had previously pled guilty to conspiring to transport in interstate and foreign commerce four stolen paintings knowing that they were stolen, and also to visa fraud.  The conspiracy charge stems from the August 5, 2007 armed robbery at the Musee des Beaux-Arts, also known as the Museum of Fine Arts, located in Nice, France. The armed robbers stole the following four original paintings: “Cliffs Near Dieppe,” by Claude Monet; “The Lane of Poplars at Moret,” by Alfred Sisley; “Allegory of Water” and “Allegory of Earth,” both by Jan Breughel the Elder.

Ex-CFO Snubbed in Whistle-blower Case
